Laura Michelle Owens of Scottsdale, Arizona (born May 14, 1990) is a public figure who gained notoriety after going to the media in September 2023 with claims of a paternity scandal involving Clayton Echard, a contestant on season 18 of The Bachelorette, and the star of season 26 of The Bachelor. As Owens began to share her side of the story, purporting that Echard impregnated her and failed to fulfill his obligation to commit to a parenting plan through the court system, her evidence given to the public failed to provide scientific and substantive proof of an actual pregnancy. As the open paternity court case made its way through the Maricopa County Arizona court system, members of the public began to gain interest in the story and sought to analyze the evidence put forth.
