In October of 2023, a 2nd year journalism student named Chase Jay Jones from Howard University (a well-known HBCU) emailed a list of 100+ journalists with a link to a blog post on Medium that they wrote entitled 'Former Bachelor Clayton Echard has an N'-Word Problem'.<ref name=":3" /><ref name=":0">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6GR6LPZgQE&list=PLocc5Mp7hk0mWMLzXpZT6kTG-E_ej33SF&index=12</ref> The post is a blatant attempt to get Clayton Echard "canceled" by the public for having participated in a TikTok dance challenge featuring a song with the "n-word" in it. Note: He did not sing along with the lyrics, he merely danced with some animated penguins as the song played in the background. These are possible allegations, claims, and theories related to the various cases of Laura M. Owens. This is a living document, so if proof is discovered one way or another on the theories below, this page will be updated.

"Chase Jay Jones"

In October of 2023, a 2nd year journalism student named Chase Jay Jones from Howard University (a well-known HBCU) emailed a list of 100+ journalists with a link to a blog post on Medium that they wrote entitled 'Former Bachelor Clayton Echard has an N'-Word Problem'.[1][2] The post is a blatant attempt to get Clayton Echard "canceled" by the public for having participated in a TikTok dance challenge featuring a song with the "n-word" in it. Note: He did not sing along with the lyrics, he merely danced with some animated penguins as the song played in the background. You can view the video they are referring to here. Also worth noting that not one journalist that they reached out to ran with the story. [3]

After the theory began to circulate that Laura M. Owens could possibly be behind this account, which Owens vehemently denies, Chase Jay Jones' entire identity was scrubbed from the internet (sans the YouTube channel linked above). The post was taken down and their Patreon membership to Dave Neal's channel (that they joined on October 19th) was cancelled.[2] Since the Medium blog post by Chase Jay Jones was taken down, you can view the archived copy here.

TheBachelorBoy (tied to the Chase Jay Jones Medium post) domain name with GoDaddy was set up through a proxy (to hide identity) registered in Arizona. The same day of domain creation, Chase Jay Jones created the medium account, which is also the same day they emailed the journalists with their Medium blog post.[4] Also, Metadata pulled from a Laura Owens video/email attachments show the same device type as the video pulled from the Chase Jay Jones email, which was not the current, updated Mac software.[4]

Dave Neal responded to the initial email that Chase Jay Jones sent, asking to verify their identity and to get some more information before he reported on the story. [2] They corresponded back and forth, but when Neal asked to FaceTime to verify their identity, Jones stopped responding. Neal reached out to Howard University to verify that they had a journalism student enrolled by the name of Chase Jay Jones, but he never heard back.[2]

When Neal's lawyer attempted to subpoena Jones' Patreon and Google records, it was sent it to a PO Box in Washington state that Chase Jay Jones provided. Jones immediately sent two motions to quash the subpoena.[1] It's to be noted as well that to e-file in the county, you do not need proof of identification. Owens said in an email to Neal's attorney that she "did not fight the subpoenas from Patreon and Google", even though the only records that were subpoenaed were to Chase Jay Jones.[4] Neal's lawyer contacted Jones' several times to get on a video call to verify their identity, and they would drop the whole thing. Jones never responded.[4]

On May 31, 2024, Dave Neal posts a video debunking the Chase Jay Jones persona. A member of the Justice for Clayton community tried to log-in to Chase Jay Jones's YouTube account, pressed "forgot email", and put in Laura's phone number to reset the password. Laura's phone number worked, meaning that was the phone number used to create the Chase Jay Jones's YouTube account.[5]

2019-2020 Victim

There are rumors that there is an ex-boyfriend/victim of Laura's from the 2019-2020 time period, but he has chosen to not be named publicly. He's also not included in any court documents, besides Laura vaguely mentioning his name in one email, so we have chosen to not include him as part of the confirmed victims. We will update the page if anything changes.

Greg Gillespie

Greg Gillespie believes that Laura M. Owens was not actually pregnant with his twins, nor was she ever, despite her claims.

Laura M. Owens alleges that Gillespie hacked into her iMessage in 2021, sending himself the original faked sonogram. In 2023, Laura M. Owens alleges that Gillespie hacked her email account - she further alleges that Gillespie had hacked into her email account and distributed the fake sonogram video depicting her alleged twins with Clayton Echard to the press.

Laura M. Owens also claims, in an August 2022 message directly to the judge, that Gillespie and his attorney, Gregg Woodnick, were behind an alleged physical attack on her that allegedly happened on March 4, 2022. There are no public documents to support this claim and she did not pursue this any further.

Clayton Echard

Clayton Echard, like Greg Gillespie, believes that Laura M. Owens was never pregnant with his twins, or pregnant at all, despite her claims.

Echard is still paying for legal representation; he is actively several thousand dollars in debt over this. If you’d like to donate, you can do so here.

Ex-Boyfriend "Tag"

A supposed ex-boyfriend of Laura's named Tag reached out to both Megan Fox and Lauren Neidigh, claiming that he dated Laura from mid-2015 to 2016. He states that she used similar tactics on him, attempts to debunk the Chase Jay Jones person, speaks very poorly of Dave Neal, etc. After conversing with the Tag person, both Megan and Lauren have concluded that this person is actually Laura Michelle Owens. [6][7]

Ronn Owens' Facebook Page

There are theories that Ronn Owens', Laura M. Owens' father and a former well-known radio DJ, public Facebook page is run by his wife and daughter. To date, he has shared all of Laura Owens' Medium blog posts on his public Facebook page. However, any comments that mention the case and are not supportive, are immediately deleted and those users are then banned from the page. Dave Neal covers the deletion of comments on Ronn Owens' Facebook page in this youtube video. There are speculations that Laura M. Owens and her mother are making sure that Ronn's fans never find out all the details in this case.
